Support our families
Just like your family, our families have a wide range of daily and on-going needs. Our homes are not short on love, but they are often short on living space and other essentials for raising healthy and happy children.
If it is on your heart to donate your time, talents, goods or professional services, or make a financial pledge, we would love to hear from you.
These are just some of the ways you can support us:
Household Goods
- Groceries
- Toiletries
- Nappies
- Bed linen
- Clothing
- School uniforms
- Books and toys
- Stationery and resources
- Medicines
- Municipal rates and electricity
Home maintenance
With funding stretched to cover the essentials, our homes could use a helping hand with:
- Basic security – gates, burglar bars etc.
- Ad hoc handyman, electrical and plumbing services and repairs
Drawing up building plans and alterations
Transport
We need safe, reliable transport to get our children to school, the doctor, court and other events. Having a vehicle large enough to take a home’s children on an outing would be a dream.
Education
School fees: Foster children are entitled to free government schooling but many struggle to cope in this environment. For a child who has special needs, a smaller private school is often a better option.
Extramural activities: We would love to give our children the opportunity to take part in sports and cultural activities.
Homework help: Trying to do homework and school projects with up to eight children can be overwhelming! If you are a retired educator, student teacher or tutor, your help with homework sessions would be a blessing.
Medical services
Because our children come from neglected circumstances, they often need additional care to support their development. We rely on basic state-run services for our children’s medical needs, and gladly welcome support from any medical and therapeutic professionals, such as:
- Doctors
- Dentists
- Occupational therapists
- Audiologists
- Optometrists
- Psychologists
- Play therapists
Legal Services
When it comes to the welfare of one of our children, we believe that every decision must be in his or her best interests. In rare instances where we believe that this is not the case, having legal advice and guidance would be invaluable.
